Greetings from Winston Salem! I've only got a little time, so I have to make this quick... Emily has hit the Yucatan Peninsula and has already left it. I know not whether she was a 4 or 5 when she made landfall. Apparently her trip to Cancun tired Emily quite a bit, as she is now only a Category 1, and was close to dropping back to a tropical storm earlier today. However, Emily has now emerged over the Gulf and is headed toward the Mexico/US border, it appears, where she will strengthen again. Here's some info for ya about Emily at the last update... From the NHC..."DEEP CONVECTION HAS DEVELOPED NEAR THE CORE OF EMILY AND THE RATHER LARGE EYE IS SURROUNDED BY THIS CONVECTION. CLOUD TOP TEMPERATURES HAVE COOLED OVER THE PAST SEVERAL HOURS... ESPECIALLY IN THE SOUTHERN SEMICIRCLE." I might get one more shot at this before Emily reaches the mainland, but if not, this sure has been fun, hasn't it, Emi? *grin* Tags: emily update, weather Current Mood: on vacation!!!!
